The tinkling of a bell caused Amazon's head to snap up as she wiped down the counter. The Little Cup of Horrors had been slow today. It probably had to do with deluge of rain outside that just made her want to go home and curl up with a book and her cat. Her boss had been cranky because of the lack of money. The little miser had been on her back all day and she was happy to have a customer to distract her.
"Be right with you," Amazon chirped, trying to sound cheerful despite the weather and her mood. The man didn't acknowledge her. He was tall and lean, moving with a predator's grace across the café. He wore a black peacoat with a silvery green scarf. Rain littered his dark, slicked back hair, his face pointed and sharp.
/Great/ Amazon thought as she pulled her  notepad from her apron. /A miserable day and I get the sour puss/
She made her way over to him, trying to plaster a smile on her red lips and be professional. He had taken a seat near the window, long spidery hands folded together. She had just reached his table when he spoke, his voice low and velvet with a hint of iron to it.
"I do not crave anything," He said. "I simply came in to get out of the rain. Leave me,"
His voice had a strange accent to it. She couldn't quite place it, but it was something she'd image if she were in a renaissance festival or watching Shakespeare.  However, it made her bristle.  He was talking to her like some bar wench.  She put her hand on her hips, pursing her lips.
"We are a business establishment, sir," Amazon said coolly. "If you want to stay, I'm going to have to insist you get something,"
His eyes flicked up to hers, eyes cold and green, like frost rimmed emeralds, sparkling with irritation. Her breath caught in her throat and but she held her indifferent expression. The man made a soft growling sound in his throat that reminded her of her cat when he was ready to pounce.
"Fine," He hissed. "Bring me something, I care not what," He said waving a spidery hand at her. "Just leave me in peace,"
Amazon snorted, turning on her heel, walking away from him with her long legged swagger. She slammed her way behind the counter, pouring a hot cup of coffee and leaning into the glass case to grab a danish mumbling various insults under her breath. Hobi did /not/ pay her enough to deal with icy pricks like this.
She placed the danish on a small pumpkin shaped plate, straightening up, and looking at the sole patron of the deserted café and saw him looking out the window. His pale brow was drawn and troubled, looking like a man in a hopeless situation. Amazon didn't know why it slipped into her heart like a cold knife. She supposed she was just a huge softy underneath it all.
She sighed and trudged over to the man, setting the plate and coffee at his elbow. He looked up at him, his eyes narrowing as he dug into his coat pocket..
Amazon held out a hand and shook her head, "It's alright. It's on the house,"
He blinked looking up at her, "I need to pay for this faire, do I not?" He asked and Amazon shook her head again. Didn't this guy speak English?
"No, I told you, it's on the house. It's free," She said.
"Why? Your employer will not like that at all," He said with a frown and Amazon shrugged her shoulders.
"That's my problem, unless you don't want it,"
"I told you I didn't," He glared and Amazon snorted, reaching for the plate.
"Fine, then you got to leave," She said. Her fingers had touched the plate when his hand wrapped around her wrist, his touch cool, like chilled marble.
"No," He said, his tone firm, but quiet. "Leave it,"
"if you don't want it," Amazon said, meeting his artic stare. His lip lifted in a sneer revealing white teeth.
"You infuriating woman," He growled. "I said /leave/ it,"
A smirk curled over Amazon's lips as he released her, placing her hands on hips and she straightened up. "Good, you're learning," She said and he narrowed his eyes at her. She smirked only more and turned, practically skipping to the bar. /That should teach that snippy upstart/, she thought as she returned to her post at the register.
The rest of the day passed without incident. The stranger ate his food without complaint and slipped out the door without so much as a thank you. The rain eventually stopped, living the day miserable, cold, and grey, but at least people started coming in to warm up with a cup of coffee.
The sky was starting to darken when Amazon started making her way out to her car, her shift over.  She sighed, unable to get the image of the cool stranger and his frozen green eyes out of her head. He was a prick, but she'd be damned if he wasn't a handsome one.
But it didn't matter, she was never going to see him again and she was going to be better for it.
She had just unlocked her car when the hairs on the back of her neck stood up, the air turning frigid and she could see her breath steam out between her lips. She was about to turn around when a hand grasped her around the waist, a body pressing up behind her.
Amazon let out a little squeak, her normally fiery nature snuffing out as she instinctively seized up. She didn't know if this guy had a knife or a gun. She didn't want to make a sudden move.
"You were most impertinent to me today," Crooned a voice in her ear, like ice covered velvet. A chill run up her spine. She knew that voice. It was her frosty patron. "Kind," He continued, pressing closer to her. "but impertinent,"
"Look, buddy," Amazon snarled, but her voice came out weak and wavery. "I don't know what kind of girl I am!"
There are suddenly teeth on the rim of her ear and Amazon's voice dies in her throat, her knees going weak, "I know exactly what kind of woman you are," He growled. "and I have intentions of thanking you if you can put a halt on your viperous tongue,"
Amazon's brain skidded to a stop, butterflies coming to life in her belly. She gasped softly, at a complete loss for words, her sharp tongue stuck as he continued the affections to her ear as he growled softly.
"That is better," He murmurs and turns her around. Amazon couldn't catch her breath as he looked down at her, eyes searing into hers. She, however, was not one to be outdone.  She probably should have punched him in the jaw or kicked him in the nuts. She didn't know why she surged upwards and hooked her arms around his neck, dragging him down to her level so she could clamp her mouth over his.
He groaned into her lips, pressing her against her car, kissing her fiercely. Cool lips provided a sharp contrast to his hot mouth as he kissed her deeply, his tongue swirling in her mouth. She pulled herself up, wrapping her legs around his hips, fighting for better purchase on his lips as he buried a hand in her dark honey colored hair. He rumbled in his chest, biting softly on her lip and tugging hard. She mewled softly at the rough gesture, fumbling to get her hands under his shirt.
He only chuckled as he broke the kiss suddenly, pushing her down to her feet again. She panted breathlessly, looking up at him with a soft sound in her throat, buzzing with need of him.
"Now you are learning," He smirked at her, green eyes glinting. "Perhaps I will see you soon, impertinent one,"
And then with a flash of gold light, her was gone.
Amazon leaned against the car, the feel of his teeth still on her lips, as she looked around in bewilderment.
What the hell had just happened?
